Nadja Simão Magalhães
Welcome to my page! I am a person who likes to learn, have new experiences and learn about different subjects. I value the human person and believe in collaborative work.
In academic training, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Brasília (1984), a Master’s degree in Elementary Particle Physics from the University of São Paulo (USP, 1987) and a PhD in Science from the Physics Institute of the University of São Paulo (1992). I carried out post-doctoral studies at USP, Louisiana State University (USA, 1994-95), the National Institute for Space Research (São José dos Campos) and the University of Victoria (Canada, 2013). I currently hold the position of Associate Professor IV in the Department of Physics at the Federal University of São Paulo, on the Diadema campus (SP).
I have professional experience in the field of Physics, especially Gravitation and Astrophysics, working mainly on the following topics: theories of gravitation, gravitational waves, pulsars, detectors, astrophysical gravitational sources. In the area of Engineering, I have experience in signal analysis and processing, in mathematical modeling of systems and in electromechanical systems.
In more recent times, I began collaborations involving signal analysis and processing in applied physics, on the topic of cetacean bioacoustics, which includes marine biology researchers.
I was a member of the National Institute of Astrophysics Science and Technology (INCT-A, closed). I am a member of “The International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation”, the “International Society for Quantum Gravity”, the “International Union of Pure and Applied Physics”, the “Portuguese Society of Relativity and Gravitation”, the “Brazilian Society of Physics “, the “Brazilian Astronomical Society”, the “Brazilian Society of Bioacoustics” and the “Rede Paulista de Astronomia”.
I’m a fan of nature, a tirelessly curious person, and a “scientist” since I was little.
